Spotlight On: Frenzy’s Colin Read

With a background in narrative fiction, New York-based filmmaker Colin Read obtained his MFA in Creative Writing at NYU, before jumping sideways into the world of skateboard filmmaking. While working as a touring videographer and editor for magazine and skate companies, he directed several independent skateboarding feature films.

His films, ‘Tengu: God of Mischief’ and ‘Spirit Quest’, both landed ‘Best of the Year’ awards throughout the skateboarding media landscape. Having collaborated with RadioheadAppleConverse, and more, his work has been shown by venues such as MoMA, the Hammer Museum, and the Guggenheim, and has been decorated by institutions such as the Clios, the MTV VMAs, the Berlin Commercial Awards, and more. Now at FrenzyParis, Colin recently finished a collaboration with Samsung, set to release soon.
