
Last week, Chromista director Eliza McNitt won Gold in Innovation — Use of Data & AI at CICLOPE for her generative short film, ‘Ancestra‘. The film premiered at this years’ Tribeca and was created in collaboration with Google DeepMind and Creative Lab. The film blends poetry, memory and technology.
Writer and director McNitt is an Emmy Awards Finalist, and the recipient of the VR Grand Prize at The Venice Film Festival. Exploring the cosmic collision of science and art, she works alongside scientists to tell stories about the human connection to the cosmos. Her films and VR experiences have appeared at festivals including Sundance, SXSW, AFI, Cannes NEXT, Tribeca, Telluride, and the Venice Film Festival. She is a two time Intel Science Fair winner, a OneFifty creator, Alfred P. Sloan grant recipient, and winner of a 2018 Gold Screen Young Director’s Award at Cannes Lions.
