With a newly released trailer, the world premiere of Apple Original Films’ ‘Blitz’,directed by Oscar-winning Sir Steve McQueen,is set to open the 68th BFI London Film Festival next month, hosted at the Southbank Centre’s Royal Festival Hall. The film stars Academy and BAFTA Award-nominee Saoirse Ronan and newcomer Elliott Heffernan as mother and son, racing to find one another as Nazi Germany lays siege to London. This marks a return to the festival by the director, who has opened LFF twice before, and who was awarded the BFI’s highest honour – the BFI Fellowship – for his outstanding contribution to film and moving image.
‘Blitz’ also stars Harris Dickinson, Erin Kellyman, Stephen Graham, Benjamin Clementine, Kathy Burke, Leigh Gill, and former Jam frontman, Paul Weller. McQueen’s Lammas Park produces alongside Working Title Films and New Regency for Apple.
