
Screening at the 2023 Toronto International Film Festival, Jasmin Mozaffari‘s latest short film, ‘Motherland’,will close the Short Cuts programme. Written and directed by Fela’s Mozaffari, and inspired by the story of her own parents, the film – set in 1979 at the height of the Iran Hostage crisis – sees its protagonist, Babek, meeting his fiancé’s parents in the United States, and having to confront the realities of what it means to be an Iranian immigrant in a patriotic, post-Vietnam America.
