2K have launched the latest instalment of the Borderlands series (Borderlands 3) with a string of disruptive spots that transform bland commercials into Borderlands wastelands, populated by demon dogs and violent freaks. Created by the video game publisher’s in-house creative team, the films were directed by Marcelo Burgos and produced by Chromista. Burgos established himself on the agency side of the business, beginning his career as a creative at Ogilvy Buenos Aires in the 1990s. He then went on to win over 70 advertising industry awards before transitioning to a film director. Now having a body of work that reflects a diverse background in design and visual storytelling, Burgos’s directing work has been recognised with 9 Cannes Lions, as well as other national and international awards.
