Double Emmy and BAFTA winning director, Lucy Blackstad, is Curate Film’s latest signing. Working in a variety of formats, including documentary, commercials, drama and installation films, Blackstad’s most documentary, ‘The Surgeons Cut’, won the 2021 BAFTA for Best Specialist Factual, and the Emmy 2021 for Outstanding Science and Technology Documentary. Her short film, ‘The Birthday’, was one of twelve films selected for the International Berlin Film Festival, and her installation film, ‘Shipping Forecast’, for The National Maritime Museum ran on a giant video wall in the entrance for five years. She has also written a book to accompany her series ‘Bridges’, and co-produced a full scale theatrical music and dance show in Havana by choreographer and partner Alexander Varona, using her photos and video projections as part of the set.
